Tom Atkins has been a pastor in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church for more than 20 years, serving in small as well as large churches. These years of experience have allowed him to understand the excitement, joy, frustrations, and trials faced by the local church.

Tom has always had a love for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As he received numerous invitations to preach across the nation, he sensed God calling him from the pastoral ministry into full time evangelism. After years of struggling with God’s call to become a full-time evangelist, Tom stepped out in faith, believing in God’s guidance. Tom was appointed as a General Evangelist from the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in June of 1994.

Tom grew up in Decatur, Georgia, and attended Pattillo Memorial United Methodist Church. He is a graduate of Asbury College and Asbury Theological Seminary. Residing in Monroe, Georgia, Tom and his wife, Susan, have two sons: Matthew and Andrew, who are both Asbury College graduates.

Tom presently serves as the Southeastern Jurisdictional Representative to the Council on Evangelism of the United Methodist Church and is past President of the Asbury College Alumni Association.
