CONSTRUCTION ACCELERATES

With the coming of spring, the pace of construction accelerates. It is becoming impossible to provide up-to-the-minute photographs. What you are seeing here will be "historical" by the time you view it. All winter we have watched the beautiful frame slowly etching itself against the crisp blue skyline. This week those lovely douglas fir timbers will be enclosed by the siding panels -- high efficiency three-layer laminations of OSB board on each side of four inches of foam. Similar panels will go on the roof. The drywall has arrived and interior work crews will be getting started shortly.

We continue to rejoice and wonder at what God has provided for Francis Asbury Society in this facility. The other day as I was walking around the site with Charles Howell, I felt that we really can not imagine how God is going to use this sacred space. Both of us has the strong sensation that it is becoming far more than the planners and architects visualized. I wonder if this is similar to what happens to novelists when one of their characters begins to take on a life of his own and the author finds himself "following" along. We thought we were building offices and storage space. I'm beginning to suspect that God has much more in mind. There is a palpable sense of His presence in the building even now. From the second floor the view is unobstructed and you can see for miles in all directions over central Kentucky. What a contrast with the basement space we have occupied for over twenty years! I think there may be significant symbolism in that. Please pray for this project as we move into a new phase.
