Francis Asbury Covenant Evangelists (F.A.C.E.)
It is said that at one time, Francis Asbury was the most recognized face in America. The reason for this is simple: he went. He travelled tens of thousands of miles on horseback to share the gospel, face-to-face, with as many as his strength allowed. With this in mind, FAS is currently developing the Francis Asbury Covenant Evangelist program (F.A.C.E). The aim is to have a team of about 12 evangelists who, as direct partners, conduct itinerant evangelism as the “face” of FAS in three-year rotations.
Sending out gifted evangelists has been one of the foundational ministries of FAS through its entire history. The founders of FAS felt the vision for evangelism was two-fold: 1) To encourage the evangelistic enterprise in the local church and in the world; 2) To undertake for the role of the evangelist as an ongoing, recognizably biblical part of the Divine Office of the Church. While technology and transportation continue to improve, the face-to-face connection will always remain a vital aspect of our ministry. Where there is an open door for proclaiming the gospel in person, evangelists from FAS will go, as schedule and resources allow.
