From the President’s Desk – April 2013

If Charles Dickens had a tale of two cities, my little page would simply be a tale of two rivers.  I have been traveling to small parishes from south to north.  I started with brother Tony Antonelli on the Alabama River down in Autaugaville, Alabama, and wound up on the Mullica River in the Batsto Pleasant Mills Church near the Historic Village of Batsto in New Jersey. The latter Church was started with Bishop Francis Asbury’s help, and has a beautiful, elevated pulpit in which Asbury preached in 1808.

Some will say periodically, “Ron, you must prioritize where you are willing to go.”  My response to that is, “I am!  That’s exactly why I am writing from here on the river!” You see, it was in a revival of about 35 up around Frederick, MD where Dr. Henry Clay Morrison met 13 year old E. Stanley Jones–a little boy who had a heart big enough to oversee more than one million souls from India convert to Christ. In other words, Morrison never held a bigger revival.

At the revival in Alabama, a beautiful 13 year old named Rebecca Rose sang the song about “The Potter’s Hand,” and it blessed me deeply.  In the New Jersey revival a still younger girl also named Rebecca sang “These are the Days of Elijah.”  I prayed with her several times and asked, “Lord, how many souls are these young ones carrying in their hearts?” I felt God smile.

The spirit of Asbury is alive and well because the Spirit of God still visits parishes on the river.
