This booklet contains the original sermon, The Scripture Way of Salvation, by John Wesley and a Modern English Version by Kenneth Kinghorn.  The foreword is by Dr. Dennis Kinlaw.  There is a sense in which one can say that the story of Christianity is the story of its sermons.  Other kingdoms have sent forth their warriors with swords or spears or with rifles and guns.  The Kingdom of our God and of his Son Jesus has sent forth its representatives with a different kind of armament.  They have gone around the world with the Gospel, a message of Good News from the creation's Maker and Lord of creation to be proclaimed in story form, a story whose concepts are communicated in words both spoken and written.  So its warriors have been missionaries, prophets, evangelists, and preachers.  Their prime instrument has been the sermon.  This legacy gives a unique importance to a single simple sermon by Wesley called The Scripture Way of Salvation, a message that has particular relevance today.
