Hemlock Retreats | Fall Renewal Conference

FAS Retreats and Conferences

Pastors and lay people around the world need opportunities for renewal and training. This is especially so internationally where the church is growing rapidly. It is essential we respond to these needs. The Francis Asbury Society holds several conferences each year in the United States and Latin America to help meet this need.

Prayer has been a central feature of all Francis Asbury Society retreats at Hemlock Inn. Old-timers remember John Shell’s blessings before all meals. Truly, my sharpest memories are of early morning prayer times. Often we lifted our voices to God on the back porch during that time of day that the mountains become almost visible through the morning mists. Our Founder, Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, always considered prayer to be a major ministry of the Society. His message, simply titled "Prayer," will be the keynote for each of the two retreats. Dr. Allan and Beth Coppedge will be this year’s featured speaker/leaders. The Coppedges were among the twelve attendees at the very first Hemlock Inn Retreat in 1983. Their passion for discipleship and prayer has given focus to the Society’s ministries across the years. Beth Coppedge is the Director of Titus Women, a ministry of The Francis Asbury Society. President Paul Blair and Harold Burgess will also participate in the retreat. We trust you can be with us.

Fall Renewal Conference -- November 16 - 18, 2010
Francis Asbury Society Ministry Center, Wilmore, KY

The Francis Asbury Society's Fall Renewal Conference will be the first major event to be held in our new ministry center, November 16-18. The theme of the conference is taken from Paul's letter to the Ephesians "To know the love of Christ."

Primary speakers are Dr. Dennis Kinlaw and Dr. Joe Dongell, FAS Board Member and Professor of New Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary.

  • While many pastors are confident that God loves their parishioners, they are often uncertain that God really loves them.

  • How has the Fall affected our ability to receive and live in God's love?

  • What does it mean to truly be "rooted and grounded in love"?

  • How do we minister out of the fullness of love?

  • What happens to use when that fullness is missing?

This retreat is designed to be more than a series of lectures. There will be solid Biblical teaching, but beyond that our goal is that every participant will leave with a fresh testimony that "the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

We have reserved a number of rooms at the Asbury Inn in Wilmore at special discount rates. Call 859-858-2156 to book your own reservations.

Conference cost is $50 per person, including breakfast on Wednesday and Thursday. Download a registration form.
