The Francis Asbury Society

Summer Book Series

Summer: sun, vacation, no school, free time. We all look forward to summer because more daylight hours and warmer temperatures mean more time to enjoy life. But what if you could also use that extra time to enrich your Christian faith? The Francis Asbury Society would like to invite you to enjoy our Summer Book Series. Once a month during June, July and August, we will meet at our Ministry Center in Wilmore, KY to discuss a book with practical applications to anyone’s faith journey.

All three books are available in a discounted bundle in our bookstore.

June: Prayer: Bearing the World by Dr. Dennis Kinlaw

Monday, June 17, 7-8:30pm

Scripture says that intercession is the life purpose of every servant of God.  The Bible’s accounts of intercessory prayer are truly amazing. They lead us to wonder: can our prayers help to redeem the world? Dr. Kinlaw says yes. He affirms that God still hears and answers the prayers of his people. Here he leads us through a careful consideration of the burden-bearing work of God and his people, challenging us to examine the depth of our own relationship with God.

July: Green Leaf in Drought by Isobel Kuhn

Monday, July 22, 7-8:30pm

This is the story of the reluctant exodus, when the last China Inland Mission members were forced from Communist China. The experiences of Arthur and Wilda Mathews answer the question: Can a Christian grow in the driest circumstances?

August: Where are You, God? by Dr. John Oswalt

Monday, August 12, 7-8:30pm

Corrupt people live prosperously, while godly people struggle to survive. Has God left his people to fend for themselves? That question is centuries old. When the prophet Malachi asked it, God transformed his life and the life of his nation. Through this practical study of the Book of Malachi, Dr. Oswalt speaks pointedly to the moral dilemma of many Christians today.
